Rosie Van Den Berg was born on November 4, 1936, to Bastian and Henrietta Schippers Goemaat in Pella, Iowa. She passed away early Thursday morning, April 28, 2011, at the Mercy Hospital in Des Moines, Iowa, after a short illness.

Rosie attended the Pella schools and began employment with Pella Corporation. On October 14, 1954, Rosie was united in marriage with John Van Den Berg. They were blessed with one son, Joe.

Rosie and John farmed near Otley for thirteen years before moving to Des Moines, Iowa. There she helped and supported John as he attended Bible College which was the beginning of his ministry. Together they served forty years in ministry at the following churches: Ravenna, Nebraska, Clear Lake, Iowa, Waterloo, Iowa, and Third Reformed Church in Pella.

Rosie and John traveled to Texas each winter where they enjoyed building new friendships and had the ability to be outdoors in the warm weather to do the things they loved.

One of Rosie's greatest gifts was serving others. While in Texas she and John often took side trips to Mexico where they did mission work. She enjoyed working with seniors, planning tours and activities which included a trip to the Holy Land.

She loved working with flowers, dog sitting, and garage sale shopping. Her home was always open for coffee time and having some great goodies on hand to serve her guests. Two of her favorite places were her homes in Pella and Texas.

Those left to cherish her memory are: her husband of fifty-six years, Rev. John Van Den Berg of Pella; her son Joe Van Den Berg and his wife Ruthanne of Bella Vista, Arkansas; two granddaughters and their husbands: Sarah and Harris Holsapple of Bella Vista, Arkansas and Jena and Matt Moeckl of West Des Moines, Iowa; and her sister Lillian Van Roekel of Pella.

Those preceding her in death are: her parents Bastian and Henrietta Goemaat; parents-in-law Joe and Alpha Van Den Berg; daughter-in-law Becky Van Den Berg; and sisters Bonnie Miller and Mae Nieuwsma.
