Peter took over the homestead at Marshalls Creek, Smithfield Township, Monroe County when his father, George Adam Yeisley, retired. Peter and his wife Catherine began farming and at the same time children were born to them, until 16 boys and girls were crowded into the small house -- 24 by 32 feet, one and a half stories. Then Peter built a frame addition 16 feet by 24 feet. All of their children grew up and married except one son who died at the age of 18 years. Not being satisfied with what they had done to populate the world, they reared a grandson whose father had died in the early 1830's.
