Obituary of Albert Anderson Jr.

Albert Anderson Jr., 88, of Bremerton died March 9, 2000, at Bremerton Convalescent and Rehabilitation Center.

He was born June 25, 1911, in Bellevue, to Albert and Ellen (Nelson) Anderson. He grew up in Seattle, attending high school there.

Mr. Anderson worked at Puget Sound Naval Shipyard in Sheet Metal Shop 17 and Shop 07 for 26 years, retiring in 1965.

He joined the Sailors Union in Alaska in 1934, sailing on the American Mailline Orient runs and later with the Alaska Steamship Lines. He also worked with his father in the family roofing business locally and in Seattle.

Mr. Anderson was a member of the National Association of Retired Federal Employees 888, Port Orchard Senior Citizens, and the First Senior Citizens of Bremerton.

He married Dorothy Benskin on Nov. 13, 1982, at Elim Lutheran Church in Port Orchard.

Survivors include his wife; one adopted son, John of Grays Harbor; a daughter, Irene Baxter of Arizona; two stepsons, Jack Smith of Olalla and Albert Smith of Central Valley; and two stepdaughters, Mary Burch of Bremerton and Jonita Tederman of Seattle. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Charlotte (Swanson) Anderson in 1982.

Visitation is scheduled for 1 to 5 p.m. Monday at Miller-Woodlawn Funeral Home. A memorial service is planned for 1 p.m. March 18 at Silverdale Lutheran Church. Entombment will take place at Miller-Woodlawn Memorial Park.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Silverdale Lutheran Church Endowment Fund, 11701 Ridgepoint Drive NW, Silverdale, WA 98383. ~ The Wilson County News, Floresville, Texas, published Sunday, March 10, 2000. Also, Bremerton, Washington newspaper.
