Service will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at First Reformed Church in Pella, the Rev. Kenneth A. Dykstra officiating. Interment: Oakwood Cemetery in Pella. Memorials: First Reformed Church. Arrangements are by Van Dyk-Duven Funeral Home Service.
Mrs. Van Den Berg was born March 19, 1904, near Monroe to Gerrit and Mary Rozenberg Klein. She attended Summit School near Otley and briefly attended Commercial College in Des Moines. She then worked in a dry goods store in Monroe. As a young person she played trombone. She enjoyed music, baking, crafts and flowers. On Nov. 27, 1930, she married John P. Van Den Berg in Monroe. They had three sons. The couple farmed in the Fairfield area until 1961 when they moved to a farm east of Pella. In 1971 they moved into a new home in Pella. Mr. Van Den Berg died in November 1981. She continued to live in the home until she became a resident of Hilltop Manor in 1989 and for the past three years had been cared for in Pella Regional Health Center. She made profession of her faith at the Otley Reformed Church where she was a member for many years. At the time of her death she was a member of First Reformed Church of Pella.
Survivors include two sons: Kenneth and his wife, Janie, Van Den Berg of Ankeny and Phil Van Den Berg of Glendale, Ariz.; a daughter in law, Sandra (Van Den Berg) and her husband, Darrell, Shaefer of Pella; eight grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Marvin Van Den Berg, in 1964; three sisters: Jennie Klein, Gertie Van Haaften and Dora Williamsen; four brothers: Henry, John, Jake and Ben.
