FARMINGTON - Rolland V. ''Yi'' Suydam, 82, of 349 N. East St. died at 8:35 p.m. Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at his residence.

Born Dec. 7, 1917, in Farmington to Walter Leigh and Lucille Davies Suydam, he married Golden Taylor on April 27, 1946, in Peoria. She survives.

Also surviving are two sons, Allen (and Rosalie) of Elmwood and Gary (and Bonnie) of Farmington; two daughters, Mrs. Daryl (Linda) Phillips and Mrs. Wally (Lisa) Newcomb, both of Farmington; six grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one brother, John of Elmwood.

He was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister.

A World War II Army veteran, he served in Italy and attained the rank of sergeant. He was a member of Farmington American Legion Post 140.

He was a self-employed carpenter.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Friday at Anderson-Sedgwick Funeral Home. The Rev. David Lindemer will officiate. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Presbyterian Church of Farmington. Burial will be in Providence Chapel Cemetery in rural Farmington.

Memorials may be made to Farmington Rescue Squad.
