Catherine Benita Dolan, 97, of Cedar Rapids, died Tuesday,
October 9, 2018 at the Woodlands Meth-Wick Community. Funeral Mass: 10 a.m., Monday, St. Patrick's Catholic Church, by Rev. Ivan Nienhaus. Burial: St. Patrick's Cemetery, Dougherty. Friends may visit with the family on Monday after 9 a.m. at the church. Teahen Funeral Home is assisting the family.

Benita is survived by her sons, Michael Dolan of Hinsdale, IL, and Marti Dolan of Washington, PA; her daughters, Mary Kaye Burchers and Roberta (Bill) Bean both of Cedar Rapids; her grandchildren, Patrick (Melissa) Dolan, Erin (Stephen) Zurek, Nicholas Dolan, Kelly (Amanda) Bean, Meghan Bean, and Austin Burchers; and great-grandchildren, Grayson and Declan Zurek.

She was preceded in death by her husband Robert in 1981; and sister, Mary Ethel Conners.

Benita was born on May 1, 1921 in Sheffield, daughter of William and Kathryn Reed Conners, and attended country school in rural Dougherty. In 1938 she graduated from St. Patrick's High School, Dougherty, and received a diploma from Hamilton Business College. On September 6, 1947 Benita married Robert Dolan in Dougherty and together they farmed for more than twenty years. She later worked as a desk clerk for the Colony Haus, Little Amana. She was a member St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Doughtery, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Williamsburg and St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids.

Benita enjoyed being a farmwife, and liked to sew, bake, make crafts, collect chicken memorabilia, and playing in a card club. Above all, she loved spending time with her family, and will be missed by everyone who knew her.
