Mr. Sexton was born in Laurens County, the son of the late John T. and Margaret Waldrop Sexton. He had been a resident of Columbia for the past 45 years.
He was a member of the First Presbyterian Church, the men's Bible Class of the First Presbyterian Church, a former member of the board of deacons.
Mr. Sexton was a Spanish-American War Veteran, a member of Omar Shrine and a member of Columbia Masonic Lodge No. 326.
He had been a salesman at the Boyd Johnson Tailoring store for a number of years.
He is survived by his widow, Mrs. Ada Smith Sexton; two sons, John S. Sexton of Pageland, and Clarence Daniel Sexton, Jr., who is with the Standard Oil Company in Aruba, West Indies; three sisters, Mrs. Nina S. Smith and Mrs. Tellie Sanders, both of Union, and Mrs. Clarence F. Johnson of Dalton, Ga.
Active pallbearers will be: Fred Strickland, Boyd Johnson, Sidney McDaniel, W. L. Shipley, Thomas Crenshaw and J. Manley Kirby.
