Laona - Peter Betker, 64, died at 11 o'clock Monday morning, June 29, at the Ovitz hospital after a short illness. Mr. Betker was born in Rosholt, Wisconsin, April 29, 1889. He married Alice Simonis of Knowlton, Wisconsin, on April 6, 1909. Preceding him in death are two daughters, Mary who died January 2, 1926, and Hazel, who died January 5, 1924.
Survivors include his wife, Alice; three sons, Roy and Carl, of California and John of Milwaukee; seven daughters, Margaret Murphy, Ruth Adamski, Frances Kendall, Irene Votis of Milwaukee; Vivian Tangness of Minneapolis and Ethel Calhoun and Agnes Mortson of Laona; four sisters, Mrs. Anton Myska and Mrs. Martin Zywicki of Rosholt, Mrs. Jake Dehlinger of Stevens Point and Mrs. C. J. Irish of Laona; 17 grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
The body was in state at the Boyle Funeral Home in Wabeno. Rosary was said at 8:15 Thursday evening. The Rev. S. Stern offered the requiem high mass at 9 o'clock Friday morning in St. Leonard's Catholic church. Paulbearers were the son-in-laws, Edward Murphy, John Adamski, Harold Mortson, Tom Kendall, Arnold Calhoun and Pat Votis. Burial was in the Laona cemetery.
