Ref: The Gate City News, Keokuk, IA; Friday, 11 April 1930 - Nathaniel Rudd, a resident of Keokuk for the past 45 years died at his home, 212 Exchange St., this afternoon at 1 p.m. after an illness for the past year with cancer. He was taken to Iowa City hospital on 5 March but returned to his home 3 weeks ago.
Mr. Rudd has been a railroad employee for the last 30 years working for both the CRI&P and the CB&Q systems.
The son of Mr. & Mrs. John Rudd, he was born in Viele, IA on 8 July 1859. His entire lifetime was spent in Lee County, the past 45 years in Keokuk.
He was united in marriage with Hannah Lalley in 1882 at Keokuk. She preceded him in death 15 years ago. He was married a 2nd time in 1916 to Clary Jobe who survives.
He was a member of the Christian Church and was fraternally affiliated with the Modern Workman of America.
Surviving besides his wife are the following children, Mrs. Luther McAdams, Mrs. John Rittenhouse, and Arthur Rudd, all of Keokuk and the following step-children, Mrs. Dolly Leftwich, Mrs. Pearl Tucker, Warry Jobe, Joseph Jobe, Wm. Jobe all of Keokuk, Mrs. Josephine Martin of Kirksville, Missouri and Mrs. Grace Haffle of Hollywood, California. There are also 8 grandchildren and one brother, Oliver Rudd of Bison, Oklahoma.
The funeral services will be held from the Cunningham funeral parlors Sunday at 2 p.m. with burial in the Rudd Cemetery at Viele, IA.
