George Joseph Ellenbrook (Born in 1883 and died in 1958) was a prominent, well known and respected funeral director with the B. Gross Undertaking Company in Hot Springs (Garland County, Arkansas), which was owned by his sister, Kathleen, and her husband, George Herbert Brenner, Sr. This picture shows Ellenbrook (tall man in the center) standing outside the funeral establishment at 112 Prospect in the early 1900s. After this building burned, it was relocated to 1017 Central Avenue. After Mr. Brenner died in 1934, Ellenbrook managed the mortuary for many years. He especially kept the firm going while the Brenner's two sons, Lewis and Herbert, served in the military during WWII. He died July 12, 1958. His wife, Myrtle Shelton Ellenbrook, died Jan 18, 1955, and is also buried in Greenwood Cemetery in Hot Springs. They had a daughter, Lorraine Jordan (Dec 16, 1913 - Dec 4, 1978). She is also buried in Greenwood Cemetery. Her son, Tommy Jordan, was a outstanding reporter for the Hot Springs Sentinel-Record, and later for the Memphis Commercial Appeal. Her other son, Joe Jordan, is associated with Select Funeral Life Insurance Co. of Hot Springs, Arkansas.
