Spencer R. Lowell, age 90, of Cass Street, Westfield, New York, formerly of Patchogue, died Friday, February 1, 2008, at Westfield Memorial Hospital, following an extended illness.
Mr. Lowell was born on December 6, 1917 in Cortland, New York to the late Charles and Maude Lowell.
He is predeceased by his two brothers, Charles and Winget Lowell.
Mr. Lowell served as Major in the U. S. Air Force in WWII. He is a graduate of Roberts Wesleyan College, the State University College of New York at Cortland and Syracuse University. He retired as an Elementary School Principal from the Patchogue-Medford School District in 1976. Mr. Lowell and his wife were involved members of The Lutheran Church of Our Savior in Patchogue, New York for forty-four years where he sang in the choir until the age of 85. After retirement, Mr. Lowell and his wife were instrumental in organizing Cub Scout Pack 47 and Boy Scout Troop 47, which are still active today. He was a gifted photographer and calligrapher.
Funeral services will be private.
