KENNEDY, Minn. - Martha Lindholm, 84, Kennedy, died at the Kittson Memorial Healthcare Center, Hallock, Monday, March 6, 2006.
Martha "Mardy" Poole was born Jan. 11, 1922 in Springbrook Township, daughter of John and Hilma Poole. She was baptized in the East Emmaus Lutheran Church and was confirmed in 1936.
Mardy attended the District 45 School through the 8th grade and graduated from Hallock High School in 1939. She attended teachers training in Warren, and Bemidji State Teachers College, graduating, class of 1939-1940.
Mardy taught school in Hill Township, South Red River Township and the Froberg School for the next five years.
On Nov. 17, 1945 she was united in marriage to Grant Lindholm at the Eidsvold Lutheran Church at Halma. They farmed in Springbrook and Jupiter townships until their retirement. Grant died Feb. 2, 1995. Mardy was a member of Maria Lutheran Church and WELCA and was also a member of the Karlstad Eagles Auxiliary #3486.
Family members include a daughter, Elizabeth (Don) Joiner, Sacramento, Calif.; a son, Robert Lindholm, Roseau; grandchildren Michael (Lori) Lindholm, Newfolden and Rob Lindholm, Bemidji; great grandchildren, Claudia Lindholm, Catilyn Lindholm, Caley Lindholm and Hannah Lindholm, Newfolden; step grandchildren, Brenda (Ken) Fleming, Sacramento and Gina Joiner, Moreno Valley, Calif.; step great grandchildren, Dawn Michelle Fleming and Kenneth Fleming, Sacramento, Calif.; sisters, Vi Carlson, Thief River Falls, and Ruth Silver, Sacramento, Calif; brothers, George (Iris) Poole, Greenbush; Virgil (Joyce) Poole, Lake Bronson, and Kenneth (Donna) Poole, Thief River Falls; sisters-in-law, Marian Carlson, Plymouth; Martha (Floyd) Nelson, Kennedy; and Delrene (Joe) Witt, Brooklyn Park.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Grant and sister, Edith.
Funeral services were Friday, March 10, 2 p.m., Maria Lutheran Church, Kennedy. Interment was in the East Emmaus Cemetery, rural Kennedy. Rev. Theresa Kraft presided. Dwight Nelson was soloist and Ruth Hoekstra, organist.
Pallbearers were Greg Carlson, Tony Fernandes, Gary Mattson, Terry Berg, Michael Poole and Todd Waage.
Adamson-Austin-Hughes Funeral Home, Hallock, was in charge of arrangements.
