Cornelia Mollie Bogaards was born on January 21, 1915 North of Pella, Iowa in the Sandridge neighborhood. Mollie was the third child born to Abraham and Johanna Van Heukelom Bogaards. She attended the Sandridge Country Grade School north of Pella.

As a young girl, Mollie lived in with and worked for the Hattie Andrews, Rachel and Raymond Kinart families in Monroe, Iowa.

On November 20, 1936 she was united in marriage with Franklin John Brom, the youngest child of Frank and Maggie Vander Syde Brom in Pella. Mollie and 'Boomer', as he was known, lived all their married life in the Pella vicinity with the exception of eight years when they lived in Killduff, Iowa. During this time Mollie was employed at the grocery store in Killduff and at a factory in Kellogg, Iowa. After moving to Pella she did wallpapering and painting and worked at Thomassen's Grocery Store. Times were difficult then and she worked at the store even if she could not get paid but received groceries in exchange.

Mollie learned to work at an early age in her life and maintained this discipline the remainder of her life. 'Boomer' farmed for 30 years northwest of Pella and in August of 1982 they moved into Pella. Franklin passed away on November 20, 1984, at the age of 68 years. Following his death Mollie diligently resumed her 'house-cleaning responsibilites along with her sisters. She continued living in her home on Liberty Street in Pella until moving to Hilltop Manor North on March 17, 2000. Mollie resided there until becoming a resident in the Long Term Care Unit at the Pella Regional Health Center on May 27, 2003.

She passed away there on Saturday evening, February 25, 2006, at the age of 91 years.

Mollie is survived by four sisters: Rachel Uitermarkt, Alberta Mitchel, Jeanette Robus and Bernice Sneller; two sisters-in-law: Faye (William) Bogaards and Sonja (Jacob) Brom; and a brother-in-law, Carl Mitchel all of Pella; along with several nieces and nephews and a host of other relatives and friends. 'Aunt Mollie' gained the respect and love of her nieces and nephews as though they were children of her own.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Franklin; her parents, Abraham and Johanna Bogaards; her oldest sister, Martha (Peter) Doornenbal; her only brother, William A. M. Bogaards; her five brothers-in-law: Peter Doornenbal, William Uitermarkt, Henry Naaktgeboren, Norman Robus and Jake Sneller; along with the following sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Bess and Ben Vos, Wilma and Herman Zwank, Carrie and Louis M. Van Haaften and Jacob M. Brom.

Mollie was a longtime, faithful member of the Third Reformed Church in Pella. She and her late husband, Franklin, enjoyed many fishing trips along with other family members. Mollie had a great love for her family; always ready to help in anyway when ever needed.
