Alwin Eilts, 90, of Le Mars, Iowa passed away peacefully Monday, September 22, 2014 at Plymouth Manor Care Center in Le Mars.

Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Friday, September 26, 2014 at Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Reverend Tim Geitz will officiate. Private family burial will be in St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery, rural Ireton, Iowa. Visitation will be after 4:00 p.m. Thursday, September 25, 2014, with the family present after 6:00 p.m., and a Prayer service at 7:30 p.m., all at Carlsen Funeral Home in Le Mars. Visitation will resume from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the church.

Alwin Hugo Eilts was born July 28, 1924 on the family farm in Reading Township, rural Sioux County, Iowa, the son of Reiner and Matilda (Vlotho) Eilts. He attended country school in Reading Township and later high school in Ireton. He graduated from Ireton High School in 1943. Following high school, he farmed with his family.

He was united in marriage to Marjorie Lang on June 28, 1945 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Le Mars. Early on, they farmed near Ireton, Iowa. In 1952, they moved to Boulder, Colorado. While there, Alwin took up carpentry and construction and began building homes. In 1962, they moved back to Le Mars. Alwin owned and operated a home construction and remodeling business. After semi retiring, he and Marjorie enjoyed wintering in Edinburg, TX for many years. In 2010, he became a resident of Plymouth Manor.

Alwin was a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Le Mars. He enjoyed traveling, camping, and family vacations. He also enjoyed playing cards, putting together jigsaw puzzles, and doing word search puzzles. He will be greatly missed.

Survivors include his wife of over 69 years, Marjorie of Le Mars; a daughter: Kimberly Campbell of Prescott Valley, AZ; a son: Randall (Manon) Eilts of Overland Park, KS; 3 grandchildren: Roman Campbell of Puhrump, NV, Bailey Eilts of Hagerstown, MD, and Delaney Eilts of Ames, IA; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers: Marlin (Fern) Eilts and Cletus Eilts; his sisters: Irene (Lloyd) Mueller and a sister in infancy, Lola; and a granddaughter: Sara Campbell.
