She was born August 9, 1918 in Charleston, WV, a daughter of the late Thomas Franklin Jenks and Bertha Vandal Jenks. She was a member of Hurt United Methodist Church, the UMW and was an employee of The Lane Company for twenty-five years. She was Nana to everyone. She always liked to look her best and was a very attractive lady. She loved to garden and grow flowers. Cooking was her specialty and she loved making biscuits, pound cakes and chicken/dumplings to share with family and friends.
She is survived by a son, Melvin R. Weeks (Betty) of Patchogue, NY; a daughter-in-law, Mary Anne Weeks of Lynchburg; nine grandchildren, John H. Weeks III, Marty Weeks, Stanley Weeks (Vickie), Renea Poff (Ray), Michael Weeks (Shelly), Michelle Reid (Earl), Chris Weeks (Heather), Lisa Weeks, and Richard Weeks; thirteen great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren, and five step grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a son, John H. Weeks, Jr.
A funeral service will be conducted at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 21, 2014 at Finch and Finch Chapel, Altavista by the Rev. Robert Thorne with interment to follow in Green Lawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to service at Finch and Finch Funeral and Cremation Service, Altavista and other times at the residence of Mary Ann Weeks, 10 Shore Line Drive, Lynchburg.
The family would like to "Thank" Autumn Care for their great care of Nana for the past seven years.
