Gary was born in Des Moines to Don and Joanne Lester and spent most of his life in Des Moines. He spent his early career working as a mechanic and has worked for Emco/Andersen Corp. for over 20 years as a forklift operator. Gary enjoyed spending time with his family, camping, going on the Boone & Scenic Valley Railroad, and going on leisurely car rides. He will be remembered as a good family provider and will be missed by all who knew him.
Gary is survived by his wife Mary; sons Steven Sziber and Michael Stockton; mother Joanne Lester; brother Ron (Becky) Lester; sister Lynn (Rick) Danielson; grandchildren Dalton, Cody, Tiffany, Zack, Brittany, Kaleb, and Brody; uncle Mike (Carmella) Cosner; good friend Lee (June) Evans; and other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by his father and granddaughter Shalinn.
