When Jane Landreth was 15 years old the family moved from Indiana to Mercer
county, Illinois and there she met the young man Charles York, who became her
husband. After their marriage they established their home on a farm south of
Millersburg, near a settlement called Ogle not far from her parents home. When
Jane's parents passed on she and Charles purchased the old home place where she
had grown to maturity. After Jane's brothers moved to California in the late
1800s, she and Charles spent one winter with them on the Pacific Coast. Upon
their return they moved into the little town of Millersburg, where for a short
time they kept house for Dr. McKelvey, the village doctor. Soon they purchased
a house of their own in Millersburg where they lived until Jane's death.

Jane was of medium height, a heavy woman who never enjoyed good health as she
suffered much from rheumatism. One of her hand was drawn in as a result of
this. She is remembers as a greatly beloved person always assisting when some
of the family or a neighbor was ill. Her home was a favorite gathering place
for relatives.
Jane died at the age of 63 years. On the last day of her life she lingered all
through the night, and died believing that she saw her mother clearly and called
to her. She is buried near her father and mother in Millersburg Cemetery. (Much
of the above was contributed by Jane's grandson, Charles Parker and related by
his son Isaac Parker).
