Mary H. L. Massey was born Jun 10, 1868 in Pickens Co., SC, the 4th of 13 children born to Warren W. Massey and Elizabeth Mary Victoria O'Shields. Warren and Elizabeth had 5 daughters and 8 sons. Mary had a twin sister - Martha E.J. Mary and William Jesse Flowers were married Nov 20, 1887 in Gaston Co., NC. Mary was 19 when she married. Together they had 7 children - 5 daughters and 1 son and a child that I don't know the sex of.

In 1870 Mary is in Pickens Co., SC with her parents and 3 of her siblings. In 1880 she is in Hall Co., GA with her parents and 5 of her siblings. In 1890 she is in Gaston Co., NC with her husband, William Jesse Flowers. They had a child that had been born but was not living at that time. In 1900 Mary is in Cooke Co., TX with her husband and 3 of her children. An additional 3 children will be born between 1900 and 1908.

Mary died Dec 17, 1909 in Pilot Point, Denton Co., TX at the age of 41. The night before she died, her oldest daughter Lillian wanted to go to basketball practice. Mary told her that she could not - she had to help with the laundry. Mary died during the night. She was found at 6:00 in the morning, and had died sometime during the night of a supposed apoplexy, or a stroke.

Mary is my great grandmother.
