George Eiche

George Eiche, 75, Topeka, died Friday, May 23, 1997, at a Topeka hospital.
Mr. Eiche was a lineman for Kansas Power and Light in Atchison. He began in Topeka as the safety and training director for KPL in Topeka in 1965 and remained in that capacity until he retired in 1987. He was a veteran of the Army Signal Corps during World War II and the Korean War.

He was born Jan. 15, 1922, in Atchison, the son of Clifford William and Claudia A. Fliner Eiche.

Mr. Eiche was a member of the Fleming, Jackson, Seever Post No. 6 of the American Legion in Atchison and First Christian Church in Atchison. He served on the Governor's Safety Committee and was past president of many Electrical Safety Organizations.

He was married to Wilma Williams on May 7, 1948. She survives.
Other survivors include a son, Hap Eiche, Lansing; a daughter, Joy L. Krietemeyer, Topeka; his parents, Clifford and Claudia Eiche, Atchison; a brother, Carl Eiche, Frankfort, Ind.; a sister, Betty Jo Mier, Atchison; and four grandchildren.

Services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Penwell-Gabel Mid Town Chapel. Burial will be in Mount Hope Cemetery. Mr. Eiche will lie in state after noon today at the funeral home. The casket will remain closed. Relatives and friends will meet from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
