OBITUARY :
MARGARET (BALLINGER) GARNES, 84, of 122 N. Franklin St., Chambersburg, died Tuesday, Sept. 11, 2007, in Chambersburg Hospital.

Born Aug. 7, 1923, in Valhermoso Springs, Ala., she was the daughter of the late Lee W. and Pearl (Lenox) Ballinger.

She and her husband of nearly 62 years, Robert E. Garnes, were married Sept. 22, 1945.

Prior to retiring, she worked in the accounting and finance department at Letterkenny Army Depot, Chambersburg.

Mrs. Barnes was a member of First Lutheran Church in Chambersburg.

She also was a member of the AARP and NARFK.

In addition to her husband, she is survived by three children, Samuel L. Garnes and Robin D Garnes, both of Chambersburg and Larry E. Garnes of College Park, Md. and one sister Naomi B. Waddell of Pell City, Ala.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one brother Hoyt Ballinger. Graveside services will be held at 1 p,m, Friday in Parklawns Memorial Gardens, Chambersburg with the Rev. Steven D. Dorsett officiating. There will be no public viewing.

Memorial contributions may be made to Keystone Residence, 170 Mill Road, Chambersburg, Pa. 17201.

Arrangements were made by Thomas L. Geisel Funeral Home, Chambersburg.
