Private memorial service and burial will take place in Baton Rouge. Survived by a son and daughter-in-law, James M. Jr. and Nancy Boynton, Baton Rouge; a sister, Ruth Bogan, Goldsboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Mills Murrey and wife DeAnne, Baton Rouge, Terri Owens and husband Jimmy, Chapel Hill, N.C., Scott Bogan and wife Michele, and Elizabeth Bogan, all of Baton Rouge; and four great-grandchildren, Benjamin Bogan Murrey, Jacob Miller Murrey, Joshua Owens and Nathan Owens. Preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, Carmen Page Bogan; parents, Samuel Scofield and Virginia Whatley Bogan; and a daughter, Carmen Murrey. He was a former member of Broadmoor Methodist Church in Shreveport. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Hospice of Baton Rouge, 9063 Siegen Lane, Baton Rouge, LA 70810.
