Jacob Spindler, one of the oldest and most respected citizens of South Scranton, passed away yesterday afternoon at 1 o'clock at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Peter Engel, of 616 Birch street. The aged gentleman, although not enjoying the best of health for the past few years, was able to be out and on Sunday morning attended services at the Church of Peace, of which congregation he was an active member, therefore his sudden demise was wholly unexpected and proved a shock to his numerous friends.
Deceased is survived by two sons and three daughters, Jacob and Charles Spindler, Mrs. Peter Engel, Mrs. Louis Faller and Mrs. John Sommers.
The funeral will take place tomorrow afternoon at 2 o'clock from the home of his daughter. Funeral services will be conducted at the Evangelican Church of Peach by the pastor, Rev. E.J. Schmidt, and interment will be made in Forest Hill cemetery.
