PITTSFIELD, Ill. -- Neval Boyd, 99, of Pittsfield, died Thursday (Sept. 18, 2014) in Griggsville Estates in Griggsville. Neval was born on an Indian reservation in Oklahoma on Feb. 19, 1915, a daughter to Earle and Viola Breeding Phillips. She married Dana T. Boyd on Sept. 18, 1937, in Bowling Green, Mo. He died on Sept. 19, 1977. Neval started working as a nurse's aid in the 1950s at Illini Community Hospital, then went to Radiology School and became an X-ray technician, working at Illini Community Hospital until her retirement in 1977. She was a member of the Eastern Star and was a member of the First Christian Church in Pittsfield where she was active with the women of the church. She was a St. Louis Cardinals and Illini basketball fan. She enjoyed playing cards with her friends and was very talented at crocheting, knitting and needlepoint. She loved attending her grandchildren's sporting events and dearly loved her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Survivors include a son, Daniel L. (Sue) Boyd of Arthur; a daughter, Suzanne (Jerry) Carnivale of Quincy; six grandchildren, Mike Boyd of Arthur, Darcy (Bill) Singer of Arthur, Betsy (Ray) Card of Crystal Lake, Tony (Sarah) Carnivale of Kenosha, Wis., Lori (Brad) Gehrke of Plainfield, and Carrie (Ryan) Boyd Culton of Pittsfield; and 12 great-grandchildren; Adriana and Ashleigh Perez, Nick Gehrke, Andrew and Anabel Culton, Codi, Allie, Mary Kate and Jack Singer, Logan, Brock and Griffin Card. Neval was preceded in death by her husband; and two sons, Sam Boyd in 1991 and Stan Boyd in 2002; a granddaughter, Stacy Boyd in 1974; and a sister, Bernie Powell. SERVICES: 2:30 p.m. on Sunday, Sept. 21, in First Christian Church, Pittsfield, with Pastor Michael TenEyck officiating. Interment will be in the West Cemetery in Pittsfield. VISITATION: 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. Sunday before the services in the church. MEMORIALS: Griggsville Estates Activity Fund or Pittsfield First Christian Church.
