Oma Lee White McGuffey, 87, of Batesville died Thursday, September 18, 2014, at White River Medical Center.

Born March 14, 1927 in Mountain View, she was the daughter of Elbert White and Nora Jane Jeffries White.

Oma Lee was a personal caregiver for many years. She loved to cook; a favorite of everyone was her fried pies. She enjoyed listening to classic country and gospel music and reading her Bible and Christian novels. She was a member of Vine Street Missionary Baptist Church in Batesville.

Survivors include a son, Tony McGuffey and his wife, Roberta, of Batesville; three grandchildren, Sara Street, Caryn Jeffery and Alyssa Welch; seven great-grandchildren, Morgan Street, Evan Street, Russell Jeffery, Jacob Jeffery, Lewis Jeffery, Ethan Welch and Erin Welch; a sister-in-law, Willene McGuffey, of Batesville; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, T. J. McGuffey; three brothers, William White, Burl White and Bernard White; and three sisters, Ethel McGuffey, Opal Cook and Edith Magar.

A funeral service will be at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 20, 2014, at the Roller-Crouch Funeral Home Chapel in Batesville with Rev. Randy Magar officiating.

Burial will be in Locust Grove Cemetery at Locust Grove under the direction of Roller-Crouch Funeral Home.

Pallbearers will be Matthew Jeffery, Jay Welch, Marc Street, Ethan Welch, Russell Jeffery and Jacob Jeffery.

Honorary pallbearers are Lewis Jeffery, Evan Street and Dr. Homer Brooks.

Visitation is from 1:00-2:00 p.m. Saturday prior to the service.
