Civil War Union Army Soldier. He was mustered in as a Private in Company E, 72nd Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry on August 10, 1863. He was shot in the left thigh onJuly 3, 1863 during Pickett's Charge, and died of those wounds on July 6 at the 2nd Division, II Corps Hospital.

He was buried in Mount Moriah Cemetery on July 12, 1863.
