Cyrus was the son of Benjamin F. Sloppy and Mary Anne Varner. He married Lulu A. Rouse on June 13, 1892 in DuBois, Clearfield Co., PA. Lulu and Cyrus apparently separated later in life. At the time of the 1920 census, Cyrus and Lulu were still living together, enumerated in Springville, NY. However, in both the 1930 and 1940 censuses, Lulu is living with her daughter, Xenia Williams, in Washington DC. (Cyrus cannot be located in the 1930 and 1940 censuses.) Cyrus died in Towanda Twp., Bradford Co., PA.

Cyrus and Lulu were the parents of five children:
1. Xenia Diana (Slopey) Williams
2. Paul Judson Sloppy
3. Donald Lamar Slopey
4. Dorothy Jane (Slopey) Pritchard
5. Marjorie C. Slopey


Note: Cyrus was using SLOPPY as his surname through the 1900 census, beginning with the 1910 census, he was enumerated as (using) SLOPEY.
