MILNE - March 4th, Dr. John Daniel Milne aged 85 years beloved husband of Mrs. Esther Milne, 220 Roxboro Road. Born at East Williams, Ontario he received his early schooling at Strathroy and London. Entered pre-med at Western University and graduated in medicine from Toronto University in 1907. After interning at Western Hospital, Toronto he came west in 1909 and settled in Trochu as the first doctor in that area. In 1913 he left for further study in England obtaining his M. R. C. S. England in 1914 and F. R. C. S. Edinburg in 1916. Then as Captain in the Imperial Army he did war surgery at the Prince of Wales Hospital, Netley, England until armistice in 1918. Returning to Calgary he began practice in this city which continued until 1957. Member of Knox United Church Member of Alpine Club of Canada and Life member of St. Andrew Lodge AF and AM. Besides his loving wife Dr. Milne is survived by two daughters, Miss Laura Jean Milne San Francisco and Mrs. W. D. (Elizabeth Anne) Smith, Pine Lake. One son Dr. John Douglas Milne, Calgary, 3 grandchildren, a sister, Mrs. Mabel Corriveau, New York. Services conducted by Rev. Dr. G. Preston MacLeod will be held from GOODER'S Hillside Chapel 17th Ave. and 16A St. S.W., on Thursday 1:30 p.m. Interment family plot Burnsland Cemetery.
