On their wedding day they took the morning train to Kitchener. At the station they took a livery from Kitchener to Preston. Both Etta and her husband Frederick Arthur Reid were involved in a train accident at a Grand Truck Railway crossing near Guelph. They were taken to the hospital in Galt where they died.
