Cora Avanell "Nell" Nelson, age 80, of Monett, MO, passed away on Friday, September 12, 2014 at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett, [Barry County, MO] following a lengthy illness.
Nell was born in Haworth, OK, on February 5, 1934, the youngest of seven children born to the late Issac Columbus "Ike" Tipton and Cora E. (Ryan) Tipton. In her earlier years, Nell lived in Oklahoma and Arkansas before moving to the Monett and Pierce City area, where she had lived for the last forty-eight years. She was a homemaker and a member of the Assembly of God Church.
On April 24, 1975 in Exeter, MO, Nell married Charley G. Nelson. He preceded her in death on February 27, 2010. Also preceding her in death was her oldest son, Ronnie William Lynn; five brothers; and one sister.
Nell is survived by two sons, Robert Lynn, of Aurora, MO and Ike Lynn, and wife Mary, of Idabel, OK; two daughters, Shona Andrews, and husband Thomas, of Monett and Patsy Mahfouz, of Allen, TX; ten grandchildren; and twenty-one great-grandchildren; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
Following cremation, she will be laid to rest at the Redland Cemetery near Idabel, OK. Arrangements are under the personal care and direction of Buchanan Funeral Home.
