David M. Beall, 83, husband of the late Barbara H. Beall, died Friday, Sept. 17, 2010 at home after a lengthy illness.
Born in Hoosic Falls, N.Y., on Aug. 19, 1927, he was the son of the late Robert and Grace (McKinnon) Beall and had resided in Meriden for the past 50 years. Mr. Beall achieved the rank of Eagle Scout; was a graduate of Drury H.S. in North Adams, Mass., and North Adams State College, and also took classes at UConn and SCSU. Mr. Beall was employed by the City of Meriden as head of the Science Department at Maloney H.S., and was a coach for many years for the track and cross-country teams. He was a veteran of World War II and Korea, having served with the U.S. Army, 23rd Infantry.

He is survived by two daughters, Karen Beall, of Wadsworth, Ohio and Donna M. Walters, of Ormond Beach, Fla.; four grandchildren, Timothy P. Schnick and his wife, Angie, of Wadsworth, Ohio, Jennifer Schnick, of Meriden, Shannon R. Piatek, of Ft Lauderdale, Fla., and Thomas M. Walters and his wife, Taylor, of Daytona Beach, Fla.; four great-grandchildren, Michael, Makayla, Abigail and Callie; and several nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Thomas Beall.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 22, at 7 p.m. at the John J. Ferry & Sons Funeral Home, 88 East Main St., Meriden. Burial with military honors will be held on Thursday, Sept. 23, at 11:30 a.m. in Southview Cemetery, North Adams, Mass. Friends may call at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4 to 8 p.m. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the American Diabetes Association of CT, 306 Industrial Park Road 105, Middletown, CT 06457.
