2014.

She was born on July 31, 1940, in Moultrie, Ga., to James Pete and Leila Brown Belvin. She was involved in education for many years and treasured the children she taught. Her grandchildren were her joy and she had a camp for them several years on Lake Chickamauga. Later she and her husband took them on special “birthday trips” individually and together to visit historical and educational sites of their choosing. She was a member of Burks UMC and the Pairs and Spares Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, David Arthur Niemann; son, Robert Yancy Niemann of Jasper; daughter, Holly Niemann Worrel, and son-in-law, Bruce Worrel; grandsons, Christopher Ryan, Alexander David, and Daniel James Worrel, all of Suwanee, Ga.; brother, James Pete Belvin III of Augusta; niece, Lora Ann Belvin of Coleman Lake, Ga.; and nephew, James Pete Belvin IV of Duluth, Ga.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you go out for a meal with your friends and loved ones, say a prayer before you eat, and reminisce about Leila. In addition, one of the missions she was most involved with was called “Time Sharers”, a group that shared their time and talents with residents of local assisted living and nursing homes, having craft time and other meaningful activities. Please consider a donation through Burks United Methodist Church by putting “Time Sharers in memory of Leila Niemann.” in the memo line.
