Betty Jean Bottoms, 76, of Cleveland, TN passed away on July 12, 2014. She was born on September 9, 1937 to the late Felix and Hazel Gallaher.
Betty was a lifelong resident of Cleveland and a member of Philippi Baptist Church. She retired from Peytons Southeastern after 10 years of service. She loved flowers and taking care of the yard at her home. Above all things, she was a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother that cherished her family.
In addition to her mother and father, she is preceded in death by infant son, Timothy Wayne Bottoms.
She leaves behind to cherish her memory one daughter Debbie Ellis of Benton, TN, two sons Darrell Bottoms (Sharon) and Gary Bottoms (Wanda); one sister Joanne Swafford; three grandsons: Petty Officer Third Class Matthew Bottoms (Brittany), Grant Bottoms, and Zachary Murphy; one great-grandson Elijah Keane Murphy. In addition to these, she leaves behind many extended family members and friends.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday July 17, 2014 at 8:00 pm at Philippi Baptist church located at 2325 Harrison Pike, Cleveland, TN 37311. The family will receive friends from 5:00 pm until the 8:00 pm service time on Thursday at the church. Dr. Sammy Hooker will be officiating the service. Interment will be on Friday July 18, 2014 at 10:00 AM in the Hilcrest Memorial Gardens with Petty Officer Third Class Matthew Bottoms, Grant Bottoms, Zachary Murphy, Tracy Swafford, Tony Swafford, and Nick Swafford serving as pallbearers.
