"Mrs. Mary Gathers, nee Mary Klingensmith, died at the home of her son, Mr. Emery Gathers, Friday, February 21, 1902, and her remains were laid to rest in the Lutheran cemetery at Churchville on the 25th ult., her former pastor, Rev. B.E. Shaner, officiating. Mrs. Gathers was 74 years and 18 days of age. The deceased was a sister of John Klingensmith, the first sheriff of Clarion county, also of Samuel, Michael and Daniel Klingensmith and of Mrs. Andrew Kifer, of near Reidsburg. Three children survive her, Emery E. and Cinnie Gathers and Mrs. Thomas McKee. Mrs. Gathers was a noble, pure hearted, devout Christian and through many years exemplified her faith by a consistent faithful walk and example."
