Deseret News, The (Salt Lake City, UT) - July 19, 1993. Deceased Name: VERA E. LAYTON COTTRELL. Vera Estella Layton Cottrell, age 93, died July 17, 1993 in Bountiful, Utah. She was born on February 23, 1900 in Kaysville to George and Annie Secrist Layton. Married Ralph Layton Cottrell February 11, 1921 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. He preceded her in death April 18, 1986. She was a member of the LDS Church where she served in numerous organizations. She served an LDS mission with her husband in New England; also worked in the Ogden LDS Temple for many years. Member of the DUP. Throughout her life, she enjoyed gardening and quilting.

Survived by son, Dr. Ralph Layton Cottrell, Jr. and wife Lee, South Ogden, Utah; daughters, Mrs. Douglas (Helen) Nelson, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Walter (Ruth) Doman, Sacramento, Calif.; Anne Hackley, Missoula, Mont.; daughter-in-law, Mrs. Nell Cottrell, Bennion, Utah; 14 grandchildren, 32 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren; brothers, Howard and Alan W. Layton, both of Salt Lake City; sisters, Mrs. Conrad (Ruth) Harrison, Salt Lake City; Mrs. Leo (Lucille) Richins, Kaysville.

Preceded in death by a son, Frank; three brothers and one sister. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 21, 11 a.m. at the Kaysville LDS Tabernacle, 198 West Center Street, with Bishop L.J. Willis officiating. Friends may call at Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main Street, Tuesday, 6-8 p.m. and Wednesday one hour prior to services at the Tabernacle. Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery under the direction of Lindquist's Kaysville Mortuary.
