Claude Glester Colston, son of the late Jule and Lena Miller Colston was born on February 28, 1935 in Cabarrus County. He answered God’s call to eternal rest on August 16, 2014 at the Tucker Hospice and Palliative Care of Cabarrus County in Kannapolis, NC.

In addition to his parents, he was also preceded in death by a brother, John Thomas Colston; three sisters: Stella Mae Miller, Julia Colston Johnson and Helen Gray Teeter.

Claude received his early education in the public schools of Mt. Pleasant and went on to attend Logan High School in Concord, NC.

He met and married the love of his life Barbara Jean Freeman and together they traveled life’s journey for over fifty-eight years.

Driving fast, cars and music were a few of his passions. He also enjoyed fishing and spending time with his wife and family. Claude professed his devotion to Christ at an early age. He was a dedicated member of Zion Wesley A.M.E. Zion Church. He served faithfully on the Steward Board, Usher Board and Men’s Booster Club. Claude was also a member of the Mt. Pleasant Optimist Club and demonstrated his love for children by serving as a foster parent. He sang for the Lord for over forty-three years and was proud to be a member of the Golden Trumpets.

He leaves to cherish his fond memories: his loving wife, Mrs. Barbara Jean Colston of the home; two daughters: Barbara Spratt of Concord, NC, Miranda Colston of Orlando, FL; two step-daughters: Brenda Blanding of Concord, NC, Patricia Wilkerson of Mt. Pleasant, NC; thirteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two great great-grandchildren; a nephew, Michael Cuthbertson of Charlotte, NC; four nieces: Linda (Mack) Livingston, Tammy Cuthbertson, Dale Cuthbertson, Levordia Cuthbertson all of Charlotte, NC; a brother-in-law Mr. Eddie Teeter of Concord, NC; special friends: Mr. Lewis Spratt, Mr. and Mrs. James (Verisa) Gill and a host of other relatives and friends
