Mrs. Bertha E. Smith Baker was born Jan. 23, 1883 in Pettis Co., daughter of Charles and Miranda Bertholf, and died Sunday at the home of her son George R. Smith in Sedalia, aged 69 years.

She is survived by her son, four sisters, Mrs. Sarah Hunter, Mrs. Garnette Shrike, Mrs. Laura Green and Mrs. Julia Akers, and six brothers, Alonzo, Walter, Aaron, Harry, Charley and Joseph Bertholf. - Sedalia Democrat - Monday, Jan. 26, 1942 pg.2
