James Roscoe Robinette, age 87, a resident of the Dyllis Community in Roane County passed away Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Harriman Health Care and Rehabilitation Center.

Mr. Robinette was born December 21, 1926, on the family farm in the Dyllis Community.

Jim was a United States Army Veteran who served his country during WWII. He was employed at Union Carbide and he retired in 1989 as a station engineer.

He enjoyed raising cattle, working on the family farm and fishing with his late friend, Sam Rose.

He was a member of the Dyllis Baptist Church.

Mr. Robinette was preceded in death by his wife, Marie E. Robinette, by his parents, L.K. and Liza Ward Robinette, by a brother, Dewey H. Robinette and by three sisters; Ruth Rather, Beuna Qualls and Mary Brock.

He is survived by a sister, Edith Browning of Dyllis, by a sister-in-law, Barbara Joyce Brown, who was his caregiver for the past 4 years, and by a nephew who Mr. Robinette considered as a son, Lonnie Buster Hendrickson.

The family will receive friends Sunday, September 14, 2014, between the hours of 6:00 and 8:00 pm, at Sharp Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 8:00 pm, in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Waylon Payne officiating. Burial and graveside services will be held Monday, September 15, 2014, at 11:00 am, at Oak Ridge Memorial Park. Sharp Funeral Home is serving the Robinette family
