He was born August 25, 1906 at
Klarup, Aalborg, Denmark to Niels Pedersen
and Gunvar (Pedersen) Pedersen.
Jens was baptized March 3,1907 at Romdrup
Lutheran Church and confirmed
Palm Sunday, 1920.
Jens came to Newell at the age of 20
on April 21, 1927 and worked on farms in
this area and attended winter school two
winters in Tyler, Minn., and Nysted, Neb.
On Oct. 31, 1932 Jens and Lillie Nelsen
were united in marriage at Dakota City,
Neb.
Jens farmed in the Newell area for 40
years and retired in 1972, moving into
Newell. Jens was a faithful member of
Nain Lutheran Church, and was a member
of the Danish Brotherhood. He
enjoyed his grandchildren and great grandchildren,
was interested in all that
they did and attended their school activities
as long as he was able.
Jens and Lillie traveled to Denmark
several times to see his family of six
brothers and three sisters.
He was preceeded in death by his
wife Lillie, parents, a granddaughter
Wendy Pedersen in infancy and six
brothers and two sisters. Survivors
include his two sons, Gunnar and Joanne
Pedersen, Glen and Janet Pedersen of
Newell, and daughter Gladys and Russell
Eddie, Storm Lake; ten grandchildren,
17 great-grandchildren and sister Ingeborg
Bach in Denmark.
