WINNSBORO — Funeral services were held at 10 a.m. today at Winnsboro First National Funeral Home for Mrs. Ethel M. Bridges, 75, of Lake Charles, formerly of Liddieville. The Rev. James O. McNair officiated.

Burial was in Ogden Cemetery near Winnsboro.

Mrs. Bridges died Saturday at Memorial Hospital in Lake Charles after a short illness.

A retired school teacher, she was a native of Liberty Hill.

Survivors include two sons, James McClure of West Monroe and Huey McClure of Lake Charles; three step-sons, Alvah Bridges of Springhill, Roy Bridges of Harrisonburg and Elbert Bridges of Clarksville, Tenn.; two step-daughters, Mrs. Maureen Cupit of Clayton and Mrs. Bernice Braswell of Los Angeles, Calif.; two brothers, Edgar Works of Ruston and Allen Works of Troup, Tex.; one sister, Mrs. Lizzie Hodges of Bossier City; 23 grandchildren, and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mrs. Bridges was born to the union of Benjamin J. Works and his second wife, Ella C. Beatty, who married on December 7, 1882 in Lincoln Parish. She married Henry Claude McClure in Franklin Parish about 1923. He died in Ouachita Parish on October 12, 1931, leaving her with two sons, James M. McClure and Huey P. McClure. She married Joseph Marion Bridges shortly after the death of his wife, Mary Etta Barton Bridges, in December 1940. He preceded her in death in 1950.
