He was preceded in death by his first wife, Mary Etta Barton Bridges; his daughter, Luna E. Renfrow; his parents; one brother, James W. Bridges; and two sisters, Tennessee A. Porter and Mary F. Porter.
Survivors included his wife, Ethel Works McClure Bridges; three sons, Roy D. Bridges, Alvah Lee Bridges, and Elbert Joseph Bridges. Three daughters alive in 1940 were Stella Bernice, Maureen, and Marion Bridges.
