Services for Norval Dee Dodd, 81, Ben Wheeler, were held Monday, February 15, at Eubank Funeral Home Chapel, Canton with Brother G.D. Phillips officiating. Burial was in Haven of Memories Memorial Park, Canton. Mr. Dodd died February 11,1999 in Tyler.
He was born February 25,1917, to the late B.H. and Laura Sheats Dodd, in the Rose Hill Community in Kaufman County. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert Dodd of Rose Hill, and Harrison "Buster" Dodd, of Dallas. He was a member of Church of Christ in Ben Wheeler. He worked in the trucking industry for 33 years. He married Ruthie Hopkins on 2 July 1944. He was a devoted husband, wonderful father, loving grandfather, father-in-law, uncle and a true loyal friend.
Survivors include his wife, Ruthie V. Dodd; son, Paul Eugene Dodd; daughter and son-in-law, Andrea Dee and Danny Brockway, Martins Mill; sisters, Hettie Gauthrie, Bloomfield, New Mexico, and Faye Windham, Dallas; four grandchildren, Rainee, Candle and Goldie Brockway, all of Martins Mill and Brandon Paul Dodd, Van; and 57 nieces and nephews. Pallbearers included Stanley Crocker, John A. Dodd, Russell Crocker, Roy L. Hopkins,
Shelby Hopkins and Jimmy Hopkins. Honorary pallbearers were Tommy Dale Crocker and Earnest Quinn Hopkins.
