In Memoriam
Died, Dec. 20th, 1871 at Smithton, Pettis County, Missouri, in the 79th year of his age, Henry Allison, beloved husband of Mary Allison.

The deceased had passed his three score years and ten. The sear? and yellow leaf was his, and it dropped from the parent stem, easily, softly and gently. A beloved wife and mourning relatives are left behind, trusting "over there" to meet the dear one, only gone before.

Henry Allison was born near Alexandria, Virginia, on December 23d, 1893. A large part of his life was spent in the extreme South, where he was engaged in mercantile pursuits. Later in life he removed to St. Louis, where he remained for some time: then permanently resided in Smithton. He was a gentleman in the broadest sense of the word.

Of rare kindness, genial disposition and a warm sensitive nature he gathered about him a host of friends. He added to this indefatigable energy and perseverance. His intellect was unimpaired, almost to the last. He was a conservative in all things, liberal, true, generous, noble. Without struggle at 12 m. he passed away.

The transition was so easy, one was scarcely aware it had taken place. To the mourning friend we tender out warmest sympathies. The deceased was widely known in Pettis County. The funeral took place yesterday at 2 p.m., Revs Boucher and Godby officiating. May we meet thee on the other shore. - Sedalia Democrat - Friday, December 29, 1871 pg.4
