Ezekiel married Maria Virginia Waugh on 31 October 1899 in Harrisburg, Virginia. The wedding ceremony was performed by her father, Dr. Jacob Hoffman Waugh, Methodist Minister. Virginia was a music teacher and organist for the church. After the ceremony, the couple took the train to Dublin, Georgia where they made their first home. They then lived at Sandersville and later Atlanta, Georgia. The couple divorced in 1916.
