Michael Lee “Poppy” Bird, 56, of Liberty, died Tuesday, September 9, 2014, in Huntsville.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Friday, September 12, 2014, at the Pace-Stancil Funeral Home Chapel with burial following at Hardin Chapel Cemetery in Hardin. Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home. Services are under the direction of Pace-Stancil Funeral Home in Dayton.
Mike was born October 1, 1957 in Liberty, to parents; Lee Roy Bird and Mary Elizabeth Rich, and has been a lifelong resident of Liberty. He attended Liberty High School, was a diesel mechanic for Kee West Equipment of Baytown, and enjoyed hunting, fishing, tractor work, and helping others. Mr. Bird was preceded in death by his father: Lee Roy Bird, parents-in-law: Buster and Sylvia Campbell Peak, and grandparents: Eli and Lizzie Rich and Margaret Ross Bird. He is survived by his wife of 35 years: Margaret Peak Bird of Liberty, daughters: Brandy Bird of Liberty, Julie Peak of Anahuac, Lana Webb of Hardin, and Regina Crouthers and husband James of Liberty, mother: Mary Rich Bird of Liberty, sister: Julia Bird Weisinger and husband Terry of Liberty, grandchildren: Cassie Fregia, Sylvia Brooke Crouthers, Noah Crouthers, Rylee Brown, Makenzie Brown, and Shelby Webb, great-granddaughter: Azaleigh Fregia, and numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
