He was born in Germany. After coming to Minonk he married Etta Ewen and with his widow there survives 10 children: Mrs. Henry Harms and Mrs. William Bonk, of near Minonk, John, Jr. of Streator and Gertie, Marie, Ernest, Arthur, Elsie, Edna and Lorraine at home.
