John Bourchier was the fourth son of Henry Bourchier, 2nd Count of Eu, 1st Earl of Essex, 1st Viscount Bourchier, 5th Baron Bourchier, KG (1404-1483) by his wife Isabel of Cambridge (1409-1484), daughter of Richard of Conisburgh, 3rd Earl of Cambridge (1375-1415). He married twice. His first marriage was to Elizabeth de Ferrers, suo jure 6th Baroness Ferrers of Groby (1416-1483), daughter of Sir Henry De Ferrers, KG (1390-1463) by which he had no children. He received the title of Baron Ferrers of Groby jure uxoris. His second marriage was to Elizabeth Chichele by which he had no children. He died childless and was buried next to his parents.
