Doris E. Haag, 91, of Staples, MN died on Sunday, August 17, 2014 at Lakewood Health System Care Center in Staples, MN. Funeral services for Doris will be 11:00 AM, Friday, August 22,2014 at Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN with Pastor Jim Johnson officiating. Friends and family are invited to gather for visitation one hour prior to services. Interment at Esterdy Cemetery, Byron Township.

Doris was born at home in Richland County, North Dakota on October 3,1922 to Louis and Ruth (Sargeant) Faehnrich. When she was 4, her family moved to Nelson, MN, where she went to school and graduated 8th grade there. Doris met Melvin Haag in Leader and they were married April 5, 1941 in Aitkin, MN. They lived and worked on their dairy farm in Leader, MN from 1945 to the time of Melvin’s death in 1988. Doris continued to live on the farm independently up until the last month.

Doris is survived by her daughter, Sandra (Walt) Sjolund of Staples, MN; grandson, Scott Sjolund of Aitkin, MN; three great grandchildren, Logan, Lucas and Dacia; sister, Alice Hanson of Henning, MN; sister in law, Shirley Faehnrich of Alexandria, MN. She was preceded in death by her husband, Melvin; parents; brothers, Richard, Louis Malcolm (Mix), Guy William (Bill), Maurice (Morrie); sisters, Dulce Lommen, Pauline Shultz, Mavis Mullen, Charmaine Westad and Sylvia Sveback. Arrangements have been entrusted to Brenny Funeral Chapel in Staples, MN.
