Chilton Times Journal, May 21, 1981. Wenzel Eckes, 86, Sherwood, died late Saturday May 16. He was born February 12, 1895 in the town of Woodville and had lived and farmed in Calumet County all of his life, for the past 65 years in Sherwood. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church of Sherwood. He is survived by four sisters; Mrs. Mary Suttner, Jackson; Mrs. Theresa Witzke, Appleton, Mrs. Ann Krueger, Sherwood; and Sister Francis Jerome, St. Pius X, Appleton; and a sister-in-law, Mrs. Alvina Eckes, Abbottsford. He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Paul; and four sisters, Katherine, Gertrude, Rose and Dora. The funeral was Wednesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Sherwood, with the Rev . Ken Frozena officiating. Burial was in the parish cemetery.
