Craig Olson was born on December 1, 1963 in Sioux City, Iowa to Richard and Marilynn Van Ness. The family moved to Sioux Falls where Craig graduated from Washington High School in 1982. After attending the University of Nebraska in Lincoln and receiving his degree in mechanical engineering, Craig moved to Kansas City where he worked with Black and Veatch Co. He went on to further his education and received his Masters degree from Kansas University and later became assistant department head for Black and Veatch.As the entrepreneur and creative handyman that he was, Craig owned, restored, and managed several residential and commercial properties. He also founded, and developed unique real estate business services in the Kansas City area.Craig was very involved in the lives of his children, and truly found his greatest joy in being a fatherFalls. He was preceded in death by his father Richard Van Ness, and stepfather Russ Olson.Funeral services will be held at Heritage Funeral Home on Saturday, January 2, 2010 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service time. Burial will be at Woodlawn cemetery.
