Julia (Judy) McGovern Braun was born May 20,1924 in OKC to Mary A. (Casey) and Edgar Mc Govern. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Ed Braun, her sister Aletha (Stoll) and brother Miles McGovern. She passed peacefully into her heavenly Father's arms on Monday September 1st. Judy graduated from Classen High School and married Ed, who was on leave from the Army, becoming a 'war bride' at the age of 18 in 1942. She then worked in a legal office while Ed was overseas serving for over 2 years. Upon his return, she and Ed started their family of 4 daughters, and enjoyed 68 fun and loving years together until his death in Aug 2010. Ed and Judy were founding members of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, then attended St. Francis Church, and was a member of St. Eugene's Catholic Church at the time of her death. Judy enjoyed her time as a volunteer for the Altar Society, the Girl Scouts, St Joseph's Orphanage, and Baptist Hospital.
Her life was focused on her husband's and girls' activities. She enjoyed traveling with Ed during his tenure as President of TG&Y, visiting stores across the country; and she attended countless sports activities that her daughters' were involved in. Her hobbies included sewing, needlepoint, golf, gardening (she was an azalea expert) and bridge. Judy was privileged to be part of a bridge group with lifelong friends who played together on Tuesdays for over 50 years. Her family's memories include home-made tamale dinners, weekends at the infamous cabin at Lake Ft Gibson, and her very witty humor. The family wishes to sincerely thank the dedicated nursing staff of the Mansion at Waterford, especially those on the 3rd floor.
